Last night was the first time for me seeing Every Time I Die live. The show was at  The Rickshaw Theatre, my favourite venue in Vancouver of course and was a very diverse bill (not for the better, but more on that later). By the time the first band Trapped Under Ice went on, the place was about half full. TUI were the only authentic hardcore band on the bill. The last time I saw them was when they came to Vancouver a few years ago opening up for Terror, since then TUI have toured a whole bunch and have honed their craft big time. They were super tight & heavy as f**k. Justin is a wicked front man and had the ninja’s up front all rilled up.  They definitely got a good response from the young Every Time I Die fans in attendance.

Unfortunately, the show took a turn for the worse for me, as Trapped and Every Time I Die were sandwiched between two of the most inoffensive, safe, and bland bands I have ever witnessed live, Polar Bear Club, and Four Years Strong. So I’m going to skip that shit all together. By the time ETID came on, all was forgiven as they completely annihilated the almost sold out crowd in attendance. I’ve  said it before and I’ll say it again….Keith Buckley is the best frontman in rock right now. He’s got the voice, looks, moves, and charisma of a younger Jim Dandy. The rest of the band were massive tight and energetic throughout the whole set. You could truly tell the band were super stoked to be playing in Vancouver and ending their Canadian tour here. In the end Every Time I Die brought their brand of southern hardcore to the Van C kids, and left em all satisfied. Until next time Keith.
