Airbourne – No Guts, No Glory

No this is how it’s done. For those of you still waiting for Flick Of The Switch part 2, here it is full of piss n vinegar. This is the perfect cure for the all out weak, let down of Black Ice (man that album blew chunks) , or for that matter the last three AC/DC albums since 1995.
No Guts No Glory is a more solid follow up to 2008′s Runnin’ Wild, as that record had three or four really good songs surrounded by filler material. No Guts is the complete opposite. This record is bursting at the seams with the most groovy, catchy, dirty, sleazy hard rock made since the first Johnny Crash album twenty years ago. Track after bombastic track, “Born To Kill”, Raise The Flag”, and my fave personal “It Aint Over Till Its Over”, the album does not let up on the riffs from beginning to the very end.
Joel O’Keefe’s vocals are like a cross between Brian Johnson circa 1982, and Angry Anderson, and drummer Ryan O’Keefe has that back beat that I thought only good ol’ Phil Rudd was capable of. There are a few songs that the band could have left off like the uninspired “Blonde, Bad” & “Bottom Of The Well”, but there’s enough kick ass stuff on here that makes you forget these few weak tracks. Purchasing the Special Edition version of this record is worth it alone for the raw as f**k “Rattle Your Bones”. Airbourne could not have arrived at a more perfect time than now, as AC/DC is about to retire in a few years & these guys are the perfect heirs to their throne.
